Merino Rib
The story

Eighty percent merino wool, twenty percent polyamide, knitted on two ends as a 2x2 rib. The rib is the point of it: two stitches up, two down, a structure that pulls in and springs back rather than stretching out and staying there. That is what lets the piece be made in one size, because the fabric does the adjusting instead of the pattern. The merino is the part you feel and the polyamide is the other fifth, and we would rather write both numbers than call it wool and leave it at that. It is knitted and made up in Italy, in one style and two colours. The care is a single line, dry clean only, which in practice means clean it rarely.

Why choose it

For the piece that has to fit every head at one size.

01

The rib does the fitting

Two stitches up, two down. It draws in and recovers, and that is the reason one size works here.

02

A blend, and we say so

Eighty percent merino wool to twenty percent polyamide. It is not pure wool and the label does not pretend otherwise.

03

Knitted in Italy

It is knitted and made up in Italy. Where the yarn itself was spun is not something we can state, so we leave it out.

What you pay for

Vail Rib Beanie: €34 here. €59 average market price.

Average market price is what a comparable piece costs from a brand that sells through other people's shops: department stores and multi-brand retailers. That price has to carry the brand's margin and the shop's margin, stacked. Ours carries one.

VAT (21%) €5,90
Our margin €18,10
Average market margin €38,76

Average market margin is what €59 leaves after the same costs and its own VAT (€10,24).

Margin is not profit. It goes to getting the piece to your door: shipping, returns, the warehouse. Then to running No Label: the team, the stores, the fit sessions, the photography. What is left goes into next season's fabric. On sale pieces there is often nothing left at all, because overstock is money sitting in a warehouse and we would rather it moved than marked up.
