The story
This is a flannel, woven in Portugal and sold as a travel cloth. Two percent elastane sits in it, which is what makes a flannel trouser easy to wear for a long day rather than something you change out of. The cut is relaxed, the waistband elasticated with a drawstring, so nothing digs in when you sit for hours. Flannel wants a cooler iron than a plain cotton trouser: inside out, low heat. Wash it at 30°C with a mild detergent and similar colours, and keep it away from the tumble dryer.
