The story
Lambswool comes from the first shearing, which is why it is finer and softer than the wool that comes off the same animal later on. Ours is a 2/15 Nm yarn knitted at 7 gauge on a single end, a gauge that looks substantial and still wears light, because the fibre traps air rather than adding mass. It carries an anti-pilling finish, so the surface holds up where a coat rubs at the shoulder. And it washes at 20°C on a wool cycle, which is not something you can do with most pure wool knits.
