Heavyweight Denim Cotton Stretch
The story

This is the heavy end of the denim, and it runs in two weights: 12,75 oz and 13 oz. At that weight a fully rigid jean fights you for the first month. One percent elastane is enough to let the knee bend and still leave a heavy cotton behaving like a heavy cotton, marking at the knee and the seat where you use it. The leg is tapered below the knee, so the weight of the cloth reads as shape rather than bulk, and a branded leather patch finishes it. Wash the first one on its own: new denim gives up colour, and it will find a white shirt.

Why choose it

For jeans you want to feel the weight of, in a cloth that outlasts the fits around it.

01

Two weights, both heavy

12,75 oz and 13 oz. Enough cloth to hold a shape and to wear in with real contrast at the knee.

02

One percent, and that is all

Enough elastane to let the knee bend, not enough to take the character out of heavy cotton denim.

03

Tapered through the leg

Cut close below the knee, so the weight reads as shape rather than bulk.

04

The first wash matters

New denim transfers colour. That wash goes on its own, inside out, at 30°C.

What you pay for

Yamane Tapered Jeans: €129 here. €179 average market price.

Average market price is what a comparable piece costs from a brand that sells through other people's shops: department stores and multi-brand retailers. That price has to carry the brand's margin and the shop's margin, stacked. Ours carries one.

Margin is not profit. It goes to getting the piece to your door: shipping, returns, the warehouse. Then to running No Label: the team, the stores, the fit sessions, the photography. What is left goes into next season's fabric. On sale pieces there is often nothing left at all, because overstock is money sitting in a warehouse and we would rather it moved than marked up.
